The US$750,000 (24.4 million baht) Chiangmai Golf Classic, originally scheduled to take place in July, was postponed

The city of Chiang Mai is set to host an international golf tournament in November.Chiang Mai Governor Suriya Prasartbandit on Thursday chaired a meeting with an organizing committee of the Chiang Mai Golf Classic 2014, which is scheduled to take place during November 10 and 16 at the Alpine Golf Resort Chiang Mai.

The tournament is intended to help promote international golf competition events in Thailand’s upper northern region while being a PR engine to make Chiang Mai more well-known among investors and business people from around the world as a city with investment potential.

Mr. Suriya said that a promotional video has been shot and edited for broadcast via Foxsport and TrueVisions during the tournament.

He added that the video will feature Charl Schwartael, a South African professional golfer, and his visits to the OTOP center in San Kamphaeng and the elephant camp in Mae Sa, as well as Scott Hend, an Australian professional golfer, and his trip to Baan Tawai – the Village of Handicraft, for instance.

The Chiang Mai Governor went on to say that the city hall will be hosting a dinner reception for participating golfers at the Royal Pavilion inside the Royal Park Rajapruek — the same venue the party was organized like last year.
