CHIANG RAI – The district of Wiang Kaen in the northern province of Chiang Rai has started its landscape improvement plan at its key tourist attraction – Phu Chi Fa.
As the tourist season is drawing near with the approach of cold weather, Wiang Kaen officials along with local communities have together launched a project to improve road side view in the district, especially along the road to Phu Chi Fa national park.
Four thousands of Himalayan Cherry trees were planted along the sides of the road to Phu Chi Fa on Wednesday by local residents. They hope that those trees in beautiful pink blooms will attract a greater number of tourists for the next several years.
In the northern region, cold weather which begins in mid October usually draws a large number of tourists, both Thai and foreign. This means the season brings higher tourism income than in other seasons of the year.
