BANGKOK – Thai education authorities have recalled 2,000 high school maths books after it emerged that a female ‘teacher’ shown on the cover is in fact a Japanese porn star, according to report by Khaosod English.
Three thousand copies of the book had already been printed by the time the publisher realized its error, with 2,000 already dispatched to 10 high schools.
“We will recall the problematic textbooks from every college that purchased them, and we will ship textbooks with new covers to them,” said Chaipruek Serisak , secretary general of Thailand’s Office of Vocational Education Commission (VEC).
The publishers, who said they selected the image randomly from the Internet, have reportedly apologized for the error.
Authorities said the textbooks had not been distributed, so students never received them. The publisher said a woman on staff grabbed the photo from the internet, and the cover was simply a mock-up. The publisher said it can—and will—change the cover. Sexy crisis averted!
The gaffe was apparently spotted by the sharp-eyed @T3Thee on Twitter, who wrote: “Today’s textbooks! Who made their covers!” The tweet has been re-tweeted over 11,000 times.
