BANGKOK - In the draft policy statement to be delivered before the National Legislative Assembly on Friday, Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha, the Prime Minister, has pledged to pursue reforms that bring about a just Thai society; one that is free of corruption.
The policy statement that Gen. Prayuth will announce on September 12 describes eleven areas of work the government plans to implement and achieve during its time in office, ranging from the protection of the royal institution to national security, the elimination of social gaps, and the promotion of education, religion and culture, as well as the upgrading of laws and the justice system.
The draft statement also mentions the adoption of HM the King’s approach to work through understanding, accessibility and development, accompanied by an integration with the philosophy of a Sufficiency Economy and the 11th National Economic and Social Development Plan.
It also states that the government’s policies have been arrived at by projecting all stages in a manner similar to that of the National Council for Peace and Order, which began all its works by taking into consideration the public’s needs.
According to the draft, the government has made reform its top priority and is determined to complete its efforts in the eleven planned areas in a timely manner, so as to achieve concrete and effective results.
After the policy statement address, the government will ask all government offices to come up with their own plans of execution that must be completed within one year.
