CHIANG RAI – Residents in Chiang Rai Province have been warned to be on the lookout of the Mekong River’s rising water level due to several days of continuous rainfall. Local residents have been advised to beware of the strong water currents during the heavy rain.
The Meteorological Department has forecaster that the weather during August 27-29 will see a monsoon passing through the Northern and North Eastern regions coupled with the Southwest Monsoon covering the Andaman Sea and the gulf of Thailand. Scattered rains can, therefore, be expected of approximately 60-80% throughout the country.
Residents in the provinces of Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and Nan have been warned of the dangers that could come during the heavy rain.
