David Connelly, in Thailand visiting his father, was involved in a near fatal motorcycle accident early last month and has been recovering in a Thai hospital since.

PHUKET – Canadian David Connelly is scheduled to return home after a near-fatal motorbike accident in Phuket, Thailand that left him fighting for his life, and his family scrambling to raise the money to get him back.
His sister Karen says he suffered multiple broken bones, and massive internal bleeding – and it only got worse; David’s organs began shutting down and he had a rare blood type so he was put on a ventilator and on dialysis.
His recovery is going well and the family is optomistic that he will be stable enough to fly back to Canada via Air Ambulance. Unfortunately, David was travelling without insurance.
Karen says the experience has been painful, and she has advice for anyone else planning a trip soon. “It’s very, very expensive to repatriate somebody who doesn’t have travel insurance.”
Karen says so far, they’ve raised half of the $120,000 needed, and have launched a crowdfunding campaign to make up the difference. David is scheduled to return home this Friday night.
