Officers surrounding Pornpichit’s house in Trang’s Palian district

TRANG – Col. Songkiat Thongsong of Palian district police has reported that Pornpichit Yongstar, 40, has killed himself after he went berserk and shot dead his two daughters, aged 14 and 7, and two sons, aged 12 and 3, inside the house in Palian district on Monday morning.

Police rushed to the scene and surrounded the house, trying to talk him into laying down his weapon and surrendering. His mother was also at the scene.
The body of the four children, boys aged 12 and 3, and girls aged 14 and 7, were reportedly carried out from the second floor of the house.
About 20 police commandos stormed the home late Monday afternoon, at which point police said Pornpichit fatally shot himself.
Somchai Thaihuan, the kamnan of tambon Thakham, told police that the man, Pornpichit Yongstar, had separated from his wife after the two had frequently quarrelled.
He returned home on Sunday hoping to reunite with his wife. His wife refused to get back together, leading to a heated quarrel that resulted in him killing his four children.
Police said neighbours heard sound like gunshots around 2am, but paid no further attention. They learned only later in the morning that the man had killed all of his children.
