PHUKET – Finnish tourist Mari Inkeri Ruohonen, has been seriously wounded in Phuket when she attempted to fight off bag snatchers on a motorcycle.
Police Superintendent Sompong Boonrat said Miss Ruohonen was walking back to her hotel with friend Otto Pertterli Finikaeheimonen at 10.45pm local time, when two men rode by on a motorbike and attempted to swipe her purse off her shoulder.

Ms Ruohonen was taken to Bangkok Hospital Phuket after the incident, after she was robbed of 9,000 baht cash (£175), a driver’s license and a credit card.
‘Though CCTV caught the license plate on the bike, it was a fake one, Police Superintendent Sompong Boonrat said told The Phuket Gazette.
‘We are now following the path of escape. We have a great deal of information and expect to track the suspects down soon.’
