CHIANG RAI – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that Thailand will be the host country for the 20th Thailand – Laos JC set to be held on 25-27 October 2015 in Chiang Rai Province. The international event will be chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Don Pramudwinai, and Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongloun Sisoulith.
The conference will expects an attendance by up to 100 officials from both sides, with the main agendas being the development of bilateral cooperation, dialogue on the persisting issues, issuing guidelines for further joint development, and the methods to develop the border trade between Thailand and Laos.
Many topics are expected to be initiated or resolved in this meeting, including the clarification on the Thailand – Laos cross border travel facilitation, the development of the special economic zones, and the amendment to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding employment.
Both statesmen will also sign a MOU on the construction of the Social Friendship Development Center between Thailand and Laos located in Vientiane and mutual participation in tourism promotional activities.
The leaders will officiate over the stone laying ceremony at Bo Kaew Hospital today, as part of the 65th anniversary celebration of Thailand – Laos diplomatic relations.
