The 30-year old man was on Sunday presented before the media at the presence of Pol Maj-Gen Ampon Buarubporn, commander of Songkhla provincial police, and Ms Chomrudee Nathasiri, head of a children’s shelter of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security.

The man who was not identified said that he beat up his son because he went mad after he tried to teach his son some lessons and he failed to grasp any of them. He also admitted that he was drunk at the time and was stressed after losing his job.
Pol Maj-Gen Ampon said that the man faced charges of assault, illegal drug use and torture.
Ms Chomrudee however disclosed that the man was a drug user and often beat up the boy believing that he was not his own son while her mother was too afraid of going to the police because she was an illegal immigrant.
A doctor who examined the boy said that the victim only suffered from minor injuries with some bruises but he was however scared by his father.
An official of the children’s shelter in Songkhla said the boy was in need of mental rehabilitation and a psychiatrist would be sent for to help out.
