CHIANG RAI – Pol Lt Gen Thanitsak Thirasawat has reported that on the evening of Wednesday Dec 17, 2014, 1.2 million methamphetamine pills and 32kg of “ice”, or crystal methemphetamine were found in a car parked in front of Mae Sai Hospital in Chiang Rai.
Pol Lt Gen Thanitsak Thirasawat said Hospital staff in Mae Sai contacted that police after a Honda City was left in front of the hospital for three days.
Chiang Rai’s third army soldiers and police examined the vehicle and found a cloth bag and five straw bags containing a total of 1.2 million methamphetamine pills and 32kg of crystal meth.
Surveillance camera photos showed a young woman walking near and around the car in a suspicious manner.
Pol Lt Gen Thanitsak Thirasawat said further investigation revealed the car belonged to Ms.Natyanant Mahatthanasithichok.
Police went to her house in tambon Wieng Pang Kham of Mae Sai district and found another car and three motorcycles.
All the assets were seized.
Police said Ms.Natyanant Mahatthanasithichok fled to Myanmar and that they were in contact with Myanmar authorities and would request her extradition back to Thailand to face charges. The markings on the drug packages showed it was produced under the auspices of Lt Col Yi Se, the leader of an armed ethnic group in Myanmar.
