Chiang Rai Plans Events With Mekong Sub-Region to Attract Tourists

CHIANG RAI – Mayor Wanchai Chongsuthana-manee of Chiang Rai city has reported that Chiang Rai will hold three events highlighting cultural activities and its natural beauty, to attract more visitors during this cold season.

The Mayor said the city of Chiang Rai is now ready to welcome visitors during the tourist high season. Chiang Rai has planned three major events which are expected to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors, with cooperation from other countries in the Mekong sub-region.

The first event is the Mekong-Subregion Cultural Festival which will be organized during December 19-21. In the event, representatives from China, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand will stage their traditional dances in spectacular dramatic art forms.

And from 26 December 2014 to 14 February 2015, the city is scheduled to hold the Chiang Rai Flower Festival 2014. At the same time a “music in the park” will be held every Saturday from December 27 to the end of January, when a beauty pageant is also scheduled. -
