The PM Himself admitted that he was surprised with the Royal Thai Police arrested the two suspects and said that foreign countries also shared his surprise with the police’s performance. Members of the public, he added, were also suspicious and might not trust the police.
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha also said that the police had to follow the procedure in the investigation and in making the arrest and he doubted that any police would dare to make someone as scapegoats because the case was a subject of interest not just in Thailand but also in the International Community.
“I do believe that nobody dare to do it (to make someone as scapegoats) and the suspects themselves won’t let themselves to be forced to make the confession,” said the Prime Minister.
Because of the lingering doubt about the suspects whether they are real or mere scapegoats, Prime Minister Prayuth noted that it was necessary that foreign media or foreign governments which are still doubtful should be invited to be clarified.
“Today we should give moral support to one another. Be patient. Whether it is right of wrong, there is procedure to follow. Every issue has the answer. Not that when the police are slow and still cannot catch the culprits, they are blamed for being inefficient. And when suspects were arrested, then the police are corrupt.”
The prime minister said that he was the one who raised the issue of the two Myanmar suspects with Myanmar President and explained to him about the case.
